Century opened its doors to 700 ninth and tenth grade students on August 27, 2001 and graduated its first senior class in June 2004. Century is a career academy high school, meaning that students enter into one of the four academies at the beginning of their sophomore year and are encouraged to work towards an Academy Certificate by taking at least six credits within their chosen academy. Century High School is located in southern Carroll County, Maryland, approximately 22 miles northwest of Baltimore and 48 miles north of Washington, D.C.
